![]() These wood pieces grew out of my latest holographic public art designs. The scale and scope of these projects have moved my focus away from ceramics. My latest experiments have been with milled and laser cut aluminum, cast polyester resin, cast concrete, and AAC, (aerated autoclave concrete) an architectural material that can be carved with hand tools. I just designed and installed my fourth public art project, an exterior sculpture for the North Carolina

Handy, George This ‘constructed paintings’ series of mixed media (wood and fiberglass) combines my love for monumental sculpture with my attraction to expressionistic painting. Twelve years ago I stopped glazing my clay vessels and chose instead to create transparent surfaces with oil paint. My earliest work as a craftsman was making musical instruments as well as the repairing of surfboards. These wall sculptures combine construction techniques I had learned from both of those early endeavors. This is new work for me , but at the same time is a part of my history. |
