"My sculptures...are explorations into ideas concerning body image. I am concentrating primarily on female body shape and size, although I am aware that similar issues exist concerning male body image. I am interested in the ways that we are manipualted by our culture to strive for one basic standard of physical beauty...

Thinking of this, I have concentrated my sculptures on the torso...We tend to objectify the body, treating it as if it is a piece of equipment to be maintained. I use the doll image since it is also an object. The mouth of the ventriloquist dummy is used to represent how we allow the standards of our culture to control our thoughts and therefore, our words.
